Margaritas!

Why margaritas you ask? Because baby is a LIME! And apparently little Lime is moving around like crazy in there. Teeth are also starting to form under the gums. While I haven't started showing yet, things are definitely more firm, except my bottom that's still nice and squishy. I am a little "thicker" though since my jeans seem to be just a little snug. I am excited to start wearing my maternity clothes, that wardrobe is way cuter and newer then my current options. However, I refuse to sneak in any of those shirts that make me LOOK pregnant before I'm actually showing, no matter how cute some of them are.

And in even more exciting news... the baby furniture has been ordered! A special thanks to Mom and Sister for helping me choose which set to get, even if I did end up picking the other one. We can't forget to thank Miss O for showing her distaste for option three by crumpling up the paper and throwing it on the floor. As a child who is currently using a crib, she really knows what she is talking about. I'm debating about letting you see it now, or making you wait until the baby room is all set up. But I figure by then, you will have forgotten about this little link and it will look different in our teeny tiny room. Plus we only got two of the pieces in the picture, so just admire the crib and the lower half of the big thing with the shelves on the left for now.

It may be time to put up the stilettos, which greatly saddens me. Since my heel tends to get caught in the cuff of my pants causing me to trip, it's time to make a change for the well being of the baby. Especially since the last trip actually led to me falling and scraping the top of my foot. Or, I could just hem those dang jeans. Once it gets warmer though, I can wear my cute wedges and capris, so we won't be having this issue. In the mean time though, I will be watching my step a little more closely.

Prunes and Martha

The chocolate strike is officially over, as proven by the brownies I made and ate this week as well as the Dove chocolates I ate that were given to me this morning. Do you know what I love about Dove? Besides the rich and creamy texture. The cheesy messages that are written inside. It's like a fortune cookie! But these special valentine themed chocolates were taken hostage by Martha Stewart. Good bye wonderful notes like, "Be mischievous, it feels good" and hello stupid ideas like "To start a romantic fire, crisscross kindling on top of newspaper" and "Put a few drops of rose-scented oil in your humidifier." Thanks Martha, you just ruined my Dove messages.

I have a love/hate relationship with Martha. In other words, I love her staff and all the great ideas they come up with, but I hate Martha. I can't tolerate how condescending she is to her guests or her know it all attitude. She just makes me angry. So Martha, thanks a lot for ruining one of my favorite chocolates. And because just thinking about you really does make me angry, let's move on.

This week, baby is a PRUNE! The bones and cartilage are starting to form and the vital organs are starting to function. Prune now has peach fuzz and finger nails. And that is a little disturbing to think about a prune having peach fuzz and nails, so let's just say that baby is growing peach fuzz and finger nails. Other then the fact that baby is able to move more and more, that's about it for week 10. We're getting closer and closer to the second trimester!

One more thing before I go... while sitting in part 2 of the Meeting From (ahem), my name was drawn to win a prize. So I walked up, looked at the gift bags, and picked the larger silver bag even though I had planed on grabbing the pretty red one (which turned out to be an iPod Shuffle). But what do you think was in this lovely silver bag? A Flip Video Camera! What perfect timing! I'm so going to NEED that in a few short months! Totally worth working an 11 1/2 hour day and then going to a work sponsored happy hour where I couldn't even drink.

Okay, how about one more thing. My Mom, Sister and I went shopping for Maternity clothes this weekend. Hello fabulous sales! Goodbye money, we knew each other for such a short time. My two favorite pieces were also Mason's favorites and I think everyone else as well. A cute white shirt with tiny black polka dots and a black dress with quarter size white polka dots and a red ribbon which Mason made me try on. (Apparently I crave polka dots like I crave cheese). And then I made the mistake of telling him how funny it looked when I put the fake baby bump on. Next thing you know, I have a wadded up shirt pretending to be a "bump." I do have to give him props for not having the grand total sticker shock that I did. What can I say, it adds up when you go to 4 different stores and none of the jeans you bought were on sale. I wonder if I can have another shopping spree after baby is here.

P.S. Emily, I've tried to post 2 separate comments on your blog, but blogger won't let me.

Week 9 Brings CRAVINGS

Baby No Name is now a green olive or grape. Parents.com says that Grape is now "an inch in length, about a big as your pinky toe." Clearly these people have never seen my stubby little pinky toe, which can't be more then half of an inch. And yes, I am looking for a ruler to tell you the exact length of my baby toe, but sadly there are none in my cube.

Grape is officially a boy or a girl this week, most people are leaning towards boy. I figure there ate two options here (duh). Either I will do what everyone thinks and have a boy. Or I will go my own way and go against what everyone thinks and have a girl. Or for the secret third option I will admit that it has nothing to do with me. Grape will be whatever he/she is meant to be. Everything else seems to be fine tuning, like developing the 4 chambers of the heart. Or prepping for the next development, like getting dimples where the knees will be.

As far as cravings go, I've mostly let go of the doughnuts and french fries, but I would happily eat either, especially if the fries are covered in cheese. I am for the most part trying to substitute healthier options for my desires. However lately, the pretzel sticks and granola bars just aren't cutting it, I would rather have cheese puffs. I stock my lunch bag pretty full so I can make sure I don't starve poor little grape, but I usually don't even eat half. My lunch typically contains the following items: Lean Cuisine pizza or panini, pretzel sticks, banana, apple, fruit snacks, fruit roll-up, dried fruit, carrot sticks if I remember them, chewy granola bar and a crunchy granola bar. The banana and apple always get eaten, and the Lean Cuisine always satisfies. But the other items, I sometimes look at them and think that they don't even look remotely good. I'm lucky in the fact that none of them make me want to barf, but I still don't want to eat them. I'm much more into the idea of eating a bowl of pasta, especially if it has a creamy or cheesy sauce. Delish. I'm seeing a trend here... cheese.

Just A Little More

First of all, I would like to make a formal statement acknowledging the fact that my Mother is a follower of a family friend's blog, but not her own daughter's blog. Even though she is one of my most avid readers.

That being said, here are a few things I forgot to mention in last nights post, a post written at my Mother's request I might add.

1. About a month and a half ago I switched my shampoo. The plan was that I wasn't going to use the new stuff until the old stuff was gone. But I got excited and wanted to try the new organic stuff, so I did. Friday I decided that I should go ahead and finish off the old Pantene so I could get the bottles out of the shower. When I got to work, I noticed a bump on my wrist, and then a few more on my arms. Throughout the day I kept finding more and more, by the time I went to bed that night, I had a full blown case of hives. So I switched back to my new organic shampoo and watched as the hives slowly started going away. Fortunately Mason likes the Pantene conditioner, so he is taking care of that bottle for me, and the shampoo was empty enough that I could be okay with throwing it out.

2. Baby Brain has officially taken root, hence the need for a second post and the jumbled state of confusion that made up the last post. Most importantly, I'm sitting here in my cube today when I should be working from my couch at home. But I forgot to bring home my laptop last night, and I didn't even figure it out until about 7:30 last night. I debated waking up early and grabbing my laptop and running back home, but that seemed to defeat the purpose.

3. As of today, my work people officially know about Raspberry (who happens to look more like a cashew). Shaquan was very surprised, she's pretty good about guessing who's pregnant based on how often they walk past her desk on the way to the bathroom. Since I have an incredibly large bladder, my pregnancy potty schedule is probably most women's normal schedule. I now go 2 or 3 times while I'm at work instead of 1 or 2. Plus, I go through the other door unless I need to refill my bottle at the water fountain. Yeah, I'm sneaky like that, using the bathroom door that is closer to my desk just so Shaquan wouldn't be able to guess.

Tomorrow (time permitting) we will talk about my little green olive.

The First Doctor's Visit

Our first visit to the doctors office for Baby No Name was Monday morning. Of course Mason had jury duty and wasn't going to be able to come. My brother in law and I were giving Mason all kinds of excuses to use, and all of them were lies. Mason decided to be honest and try to get out of it by telling them that our first prenatal exam for our first baby was the same day. The request had to get approved by the judge before he could be excused. They would then send a card in the mail excusing Mason from jury duty if the judge approved. Which we didn't get until Monday afternoon (not helpful). So Mason had to go to court, where they informed him that he in fact had been excused. I'm so glad about that, he really wanted to be there. So Baby No Name, your first lesson is that, honesty really is the best policy.

So to the doctor we went! Although we only had about a 30 min wait, we were still there for just over two hours. Talk to the doctor, get examined, talk to the doctor, wait for the ultrasound, get the ultrasound, wait for a quick word from the doctor, run out the door to shovel in the first food we see. I'm not allowed to wash Mason's work clothes anymore, darn that bad luck. But most importantly, Baby No Name has a very strong heart rate (170) which we were able to hear and see. According to the technician, our baby is PERFECT. But of course we already knew that.

As for me, I only have four pregnancy symptoms remaining, constipation, gas bubbles, 3am bathroom breaks and constant exhaustion. On that note, I'm off to bed after a SMALL glass of water.

Week 8 - Raspberry!

I thought I was going to have to take back my previous statement about gas bubbles being the worst of my problems when I got sick in the parking lot at work on Monday (I couldn't make it back to the bathroom, I barely made it to the grass in time). I thought I was going to tell you all how much afternoon sickness sucks, but no such luck. My sister called to tell me not to worry about getting morning sickness, she generously took care of it for me with her sympathy sickness. But it was too late. After my 3rd dash to the bathroom I decided this was definitely not the baby's doing. This was something much, much worse.

I'm struggling with how much detail to include with this post. I have no problems telling the world exactly which trip to the bathroom I learned to never trust a fart. But do you really want to hear all the gory details? Probably not, so I will run with the "less is more" concept. Long story short, my sister, Mother, 3 cousins, 1 of their kids, my niece, and 2 of my aunts all got sick. And since we all ate lunch together on Sunday, we assumed it was food poisoning. Then the men started getting sick too. And let me tell you, this was not a fun one at all. It wasn't until yesterday that I could really eat again. Wednesday I tried, but about half a PB&J was all I could handle at a time. So for 2 1/2 days, while blueberry was working on growing his/her brain, I wasn't getting any nutrition.

But now, now it's a Raspberry! And my jeans are getting a little tight. Not so tight that I will stop wearing them, just a little tighter then normal, especially with the three pounds I lost this week (which I'm sure was all water weight). This week Raspberry is getting elbows, fingers and toes. The ears, eyes and nose are also starting to form. But most importantly, neurons are starting to fire in Raspberry's brain. Thank goodness the thought of food doesn't make me want to barf, I really need to scarf down those brain foods. Except Steak n' Shake sounds really good right now.

Something to Blog About

As most people who read this blog already know, Mason and I are expecting our first little baby in August. No, we didn't plan on having a baby so soon, but as I've said many times, I do love surprises. And while many (okay, ALL) of my pre-baby goals/plans have officially been thrown out the window, I'd rather have the baby. Mason was ready for a baby as soon as the wedding was over. He is probably more excited then I am, but I'm sure it's only because he doesn't have to deal with the debilitating gas bubble cramps that took over my body last night. That is probably the worst of my symptoms right now. Well, that and the constant need for a nap. Baby does not like meals he/she would much rather I ate chex mix and Fruit Roll-ups all day. And Taco Bell, but I usually pay for that choice later. I did have my first non craving last week, and it was very saddening. Baby does not want chocolate. I'm sure I should be glad that I don't find the idea of chocolate appealing right now, but why did baby have to go and take one of my favorite things?

Mason thinks it's funny when I start drooling at commercials or when I announce that I want some random food we don't have. He was happy to give into my 89 cent burrito craving, but he wouldn't take me to get a doughnut or french fries on the way to his parents house. So what if we were going to eat there too? Does that really matter? I'm living in the moment here, not a hour away. And for the record, baby still wants that doughnut and those french fries. He tried to tell me that I couldn't have them because we wanted a healthy pregnancy and all that, but then he was willing to get me Papa Johns or Taco Bell so we know that was a lie. Or it was just a passing thought of trying to be good. But now he just laughs when I'm lying in bed and decide a hot dog would be just the thing I need.

Anyway we are 7 weeks along, that means right now Baby is the size of a blueberry. Little Baby Blueberry. Blueberry is growing a brain this week and arms and legs too. So excuse me while I trade in my Easy Mac for some good brain food, and a doughnut, and maybe some french fries too.
