The Honesty of a Child

Mommy:  Lina, you’ve been such a good girl this morning, let’s keep it up!  Although, I don’t think you could ever be bad.

Elina:  Sometimes I’m bad.  Well, technically I want to be good.  But, daddy irritates me.

Early Morning Conversation

Lina: Sometimes I talk to myself.
Mommy: Sometimes I talk to myself too.  I wonder if we talk about the same things, what do you talk about?
Lina: Lots of things.  When I take a nap, I talk a lot.
Mommy: When you take a nap and when you got to bed you talk a lot so you don’t fall asleep, don’t you?
Lina: Yep.

A Text From My Inlaws

I received the following text message from my Mother In Law today.

Lina said: "Today I'm going to do anything you want me to do! Do you want me to sit on the potty?" Ed and I laughed and laughed and a few minutes later, I went upstairs to find her in my bathroom sitting and waiting - for her toenails to be painted.

What can I say, the girl knows how to get what she wants!

Dinner Conversation

Lina: I talk. And Daddy talks to you.
Mommy: Yeah, Daddy talks to me.
Lina: Do you know why we talk?  To get answers.  Do you want to know my answer?
Mommy:  Yes, I do.  What is your answer?
Lina: My answer is unicorns.  And rainbows. Yellow rainbow unicorns.  That’s what I’m gonna have for my birthday.
Mommy to Daddy: This is the best conversation.
Lina: Let’s have a conversation.  A conversation about unicorns. A unicorn conversation.

I'm Sorry, What?!

Lina: Will you pat my butt?
Mommy: What?
Lina: Will you pat my butt?
Mommy: Did you just ask if I will pat your butt?
Lina: Yeah, will you pat my butt?
Daddy: First of all, we don't say butt, we say tushie.
Mommy:  Or bottom.  And no, I will not pat your bottom.

Lina's Quote of The Day

Lina:  I'm gonna get married and dance to the butterfly song.
Mommy:  The butterfly song?
Lina:  Yeah. Butterfly in the sky, I can fly in the sky. Take a look, it's in a book. Reading Rainbow!

It's Raining

Me: Hey Lina, go ask Pop if he’s hungry.
Lina: Pop?
Me: Yeah, he’s in the garage.
Lina: Oh, okay.  (pauses at the door)  You stay there, so you don’t get wet.
Me: Okay, I’ll stay here.
Lina: Sometimes I get wet.
Me: You do?
Lina: Yes.
Me: Like when you take a bath, or when you go to the beach?
Lina: Yes.  (Looks up) It’s dark outside.
Me: Yes it is.  Hey Lina, go ask Pop if he’s hungry.
Lina: Okay!

(A moment or two later just out of sight) Ahh! I wet!

Lina: I got wet.
Me:  I know I heard.  Did you get rained on?
Lina: Yeah.
Me: Did you ask Pop if he was hungry?
Lina: ----
Me: Yeah, I didn’t think so.
