Still A Secret

Mommy: Remember Lina, don’t tell our secret.

Lina: What secret?

Mommy: Remember our little secret…

Lina: About the baby?

Mommy: Yes.

Lina: I won’t, I’ll just talk about my puppy.

Mommy: Good thinking.

Appleseed

Mommy: Guess what Lina.

Lina: What?

Mommy: Your baby grew, it’s bigger now.

Lina: The baby in your tummy?

Mommy: Yep.  Do you want to see how big your baby is?

Lina: Yeah, I do!

(I get up, slice an apple and pull out a seed)

Lina: Your baby is this big.

Mommy: Aww, it’s so cute!

(A moment later while I’m slicing the rest of the apple)

Lina: Can I see it again?

Mommy: Sure.

Lina: Aww.

Mommy: Want me to save it for you?

Lina: Yes!

Still Waiting

Lina: Mom, is it your birthday?

Mommy: No, not yet.

(A while later)

Lina: Is it your birthday yet?

Mommy: Nope.  Are you asking if it’s my birthday because that’s when your baby will be here?

Lina: Yep.

Naming the Baby... Again

Lina: Mom, what are we going to name the baby?

Mommy: I thought you already named the baby.

Lina: What did I name it?

Mommy: Love.

Lina: Well, I changed it.

Mommy: Okay, what did you change it to?

Lina: Hmmmm.  Love Heart.

Waiting

Lina: How long do I have to wait?

Mommy: For the baby?  9 months.

Lina: Oh.

Mommy: So, around my birthday you should have a new baby. 

Lina: Oh.

Mommy: First we’ll have Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day and then Easter.  So sometime between Easter and the 4^th of July you will have your baby brother or sister.

Lina: Okay.

Names

Lina: Is it a boy or a girl?

Mommy: We don’t know yet, we have to wait a long time to find that out.  Right now it’s only the size of a poppy seed.

Lina: I think it’s a girl.  I want the baby to be like us.

Mommy: What should we name her?

Lina: Ummm.  Love!
